This is a relatively simple media stand...bought it really for 2 reasons. I needed a place to put my center channel and wanted it aligned with my bookshelf L & R speakers for the best 3.1 sound. Putting the center channel speaker on top of the media console wasn't an option as I really didn't want to wall mount my tv and route cables behind the wall. My existing console stand didn't give me a place to put my center channel and drilling holes into the wall (which I had just patched up and painted) didn't sound like fun to me. Nor did I want to shell out $$$ for a decent soundbar (again, my audio setup via my Pioneer VSX-90 is better than most soundbars -- I'm sure that there will be someone who will comment that a certain soundbar is amazing and while it may be the case, those always seem to cost premium buku bucks!). Replacing my existing console stand was the more economical choice. The other thing that I appreciate with this console stand is width. My space is a 74" cutout in the wall and the width of this thing is great since it looks like it's practically custom as my previous stand left about 4.5" on either side which looked weird and wasn't wide enough to accommodate anything else (unless I wanted to slide the unit over to one side to create space but I didn't want an asymmetrical look either). All in all, it's a good stand. It is simple; what you see is what you get (WYSIWYG). There aren't any doors (better heat dissipation for electronics) or storage compartments. No LED lighting in any of the shelves. The shelves are adjustable with plastic pegs. This is (as almost all self-assemble furniture is nowadays) particle board with laminate that is prone to scrapes/scratches/dings. It is not as durable as hardwood but that's also why you pay these low prices.Assembly wasn't too bad (I put it together on my own) but there were areas that weren't very clear in the instructions (surprise, surprise) that I had to undo and redo because the pieces wouldn't go together otherwise. So be sure to really review/scrutinize the indescript drawings as best as you can but be prepared to pull apart and undo some of those camlocks and redo work to get everything to fit correctly. If anything, I wish this thing came with a couple more shelves (+ pegs) since my Xbox 360 and PS3 (yes, older gen consoles -- get off my back since I work and don't play much anymore unless you want to buy me a PS5 & Xbox Series X) both have wasted space above them...although this would mean that you'd also have to tap out your own holes to make this work since the last bottom peg holes aren't low enough. My fave/dream media/console stand would be the BDI Corridor Entertainment Stand...gorgeous but I'm not paying that kind of $$$$$$ either! So for what it is and what it offers, this is a solid unit. There are similar ones that are shorter in width (different or sold under different manufacturer/brand names) but same layout but in different laminate looks.I bought this cabinet for the DVD storage, in spite of some negative reviews about the doors not holding up over the long haul. It went together nicely, though the instructions are somewhat lacking in making it clear which sides are the finished edges. I read some reviews with complaints that it's not "real wood." Well duh! I've had plenty of other particle board furniture and this one seems pretty solid to me.Door storage - there are no straps to hold your DVDs on the door shelves. If you don't want them to fly off when you open to door, you will have to pack each row tightly.Assembly:I was able to assemble this myself. It took me a couple of hours. A mid-length phillips screwdriver and hammer (to attach the back cover) was all I needed. Keep in mind this cabinet is quite heavy, so it will pay to put it together near it's final location unless you have some extra help to move it later. For me the doors were the hardest part to install. They are quite heavy and therefore hard to hold in place while attaching the hinges to the cabinet. After nearly wrecking the screw holes by mounting all the hinges on the doors first as instructed, I found mounting the middle hinge on the cabinet and the other two on the door worked best for me.The unit comes with a strap (zip tie) and mounting brackets to attach it to a stud in the wall. At first I wasn't sure why this was needed, but I remembered an old VHS cabinet we had with door storage. When both doors were opened, the unit would tip forward. This unit seems pretty stable, even with the doors loaded, so I didn't install the strap. I suppose if the doors were loaded and the inside was left empty, there could be a tip hazard, so you may want to use the mounting strap.Packaging:The cabinet came in two very sturdy boxes with sturdy foam in the corners for extra protection. While the all the pieces were all undamaged, they were covered with particle board sawdust. It was everywhere, on every board, and was quite the mess to clean up. At first I was worried that this would mean the unit was going to be in bad shape, but surprisingly, it was fine (see photos). While I don't speak Spanish, I did notice the instructions were in English and French only. It's possible someone who speaks neither could still assemble the cabinet from the pics, but I'm glad I didn't have to do that. The unit arrived in 9.8 out of 10 cosmetic condition. A center brace piece was not put in my box so I had to call their customer service. The customer service was extremely fast and easy to reach and promptly took care of sending the missing brace to me. The hardware was top notch and instructions were super easy to follow. Only a screwdriver and a hammer were required for assembly. Assembly took approximately 40 minutes. The only things that I consider to be wrong with this unit are fixable with a little bit more lumber, some glue, and some additional screws. What I think is wrong is that for my use, it needs additional strength added to the very top board where the TV will sit. The TV and stand that I am mounting on top of this console added together weigh 75 lbs. The top board, being made of 5/8" thick particle board and spanning 46" with one center brace under the middle will allow too much sag and warping down the road. So I will add solid wood ( not particle board ) braces where more strength is needed. I will have to paint the boards black to match as well. Hopefully, I can update this posting in the future to add photos of my mods. That way if some others are interested they can see how to modify theirs for additional strength as well. I would have given the console unit 5 stars if they had the strength already built into it. But, since their low price, ease of assembly, and customer service are all top notch, they should receive 4.8 stars from me.Received this yesterday and put it together last night.First let me say that it is a nice looking stand. It looks especially nice when paired with a pair of the My son and I assembled this in about an hour. As other reviewer's say, be careful you do not scratch the unit. But ouirs came with some some touch-up paint. Didn't open it yet, so I cannot say if it is wax or paint. The design is very impressive, as it holds our VHS, Xbox360, Xbox1, Wii, Nintendo 64, and a Playstation! And most of the cables are not visible! My wife loves that it is off of the ground so it can be cleaned under. We added pads under the legs and cross-brace, so that it slides nicely on the floor. Great for those who are careful with their furniture. But it wouldn't last long for a family with kids crawling on everything. This was great for the wife's 50" Plasma, I purchased a 65" Smart UHD K TV, so gave her the 50" Plasma, she even put this stand together herself. Took about an hour, simple assembly, holds the heavy plasma easily, and has nice shelves for other things. For the money, it's a great buy. And it's made in Canada, support the Canadian companies. Very sturdy and dependable, it's a nice gloss black, it is made of particle board veneer, but can't tell. Heavy to hold a Plasma, as Smart TV's are a lot lighter. Delivered in 3 days.Arrived on time unfortunately with scratches on several pieces. Very disappointed to find out that the 180 lb weight capacity advertised is actually 100 lbs only on top and 20 in each of the four open spaces. I bought this specifically because of the high weight capacity because I have 110 lb tv. It seems to be holding it ok so far, time will tell. The stand is inexpensive and it looks kind of cheap, so you get what you pay for with this item. Assembly was fairly easy. This cabinet is beautiful but unfortunately the back panels are the wrong size and do not fit.. I contacted the maker and told them them ..they sent be only one replacement part instead of two and they sent me the same wrong sized back panel..My cabinet has no back on it and the dvds now fall out the back and without the back panels being nailed in, it makes the cabinet unstable. The worse part about this is having to assemble the whole cabinet only to discover that the final pieces to be installed do not fit and the manufacturer did not care to do right by me by sending me the correct parts as they said they would do...
